Click here for MSDS >>QwikShot Acid Flush was developed to solve the problem of treating acid without leaving disruptive residues. Neutralization acid treatment must leave a residue of some kind and residues can cause problems. Instead of neutralizing, QwikShot Acid Flush quickly flushes any harmful acids into the filter-drier of an operating system.
QwikShot was introduced in an actual refrigeration/air conditioning system. Initially, the compressor oil acidity was 120 PPM and the amount of oil in the crankcase was 450 grams. The amount of QwikShot introduced on the low side of the compressor was 4.5 grams (one percent of the oil weight). The QwikShot was able to liberate the acid from the oil within 2 hours of operation. In addition, a similar experiment was performed, without the addition of the QwikShot, and the compressor burned out after less than 12 hours without any measurable decrease in the acid level.
1. Determine the Size of the Filter-Drier in the System
Determine the recommended filter-drier for the system if the equipment manufacturer does not make any specific recommendations.
Determine either the combined Water Capacity (in drops of water) of the filter-drier(s) being installed, the total desiccant volume of the filter-drier(s) being installed, or the tonnage of the system the filter-drier(s) are installed in.
2. Determine the Amount of Acid Flush to use
3. Add Acid Flush to the Compressor OilUse the half-ounce bottle of Acid Flush to treat up to a 5 ton system (filter capacity of up to 200 drops of water, or up to a 20 cubic inch drier)
Optional 4. After a Least 16 Hours of Operation Check the SystemAdd Acid Flush into a charged operating system through the low-pressure service valve using a QwikInjector. Follow the QwikInjector instructions. Do not add QwikShot to a system before the system is evacuated (the evacuation process will remove all the QwikShot).
For highly acidic systems, after at least 16 hours of operation, but typically not more than 7 days of operation, it is recommended that the system be re-tested for acid with QwikCheck. If any sign of acid remains repeat Steps 1-4) If the QwikCheck shows that all acid has been removed you can (at your option) change the filter-driers again at this time.
