The TripleGuard™ air purifier can either be operated all the time or only when the blower is operating. If you want to operate the air handler blower all the time, change the fan setting on the thermostat from AUTO to ON. Your system will be continuously purifying the air, regardless of the thermostat temperature setting of the air conditioner or furnace, and the energy consumption is minimal. This setting is recommended if the air handler or furnace is seldom operating, such as in the fall or spring in some areas.
Running the air purifier all the time might also increase bulb life; however, the control electronics in the TripleGuard have a special soft-starting technology to reduce the effects of turning the UV-C lamp on and off. So if you prefer, you can operate the TripleGuard air purifier only when the blower is operating. This is only true when you use TripleGuard replacement bulbs—failure to use the correct bulbs (there are two of them) can damage this unique soft-starting electronics and will void the warranty.
