You don’t need to change out the blower motor, because QwikSEER+® is not a variable speed drive. QwikSEER+® selects the best blower motor speed from one of the existing speed taps on the existing motor. It is not variable frequency drive (VFD) which drives the motor at a different speed by supplying a different input frequency to the motor. QwikSEER+® only varies the blower motor speed among the three existing speed taps on the PSC motor. The blower assembly can operate at any of these speeds without any long-term damage, since it was designed to run at any of these speeds. Since the QwikSEER+® is not a frequency converting VFD, there are no energy losses with QwikSEER+®, as there would be in a VFD drive. The losses in a VFD drive can amount to 15% to 20% of the energy.
