Why are there three different air purifying methods; why not just UV light?

UV-C light by itself reduces bacteria and viruses while also breaking down harmful air pollutants known as volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The UV-C can also cause some of these VOC pollutants to break down into other VOCs that are just as bad. However, the photocatalytic oxidation action of the TripleGuard™ unit causes the formation of powerful hydroxyl radicals that can break down any remaining VOCs by oxidation, while also further reducing bacteria, viruses and odors. The final cleaning step is the activated carbon/potassium permanganate (AC/PP) purifier, which removes trace impurities not removed by the first two air purification methods. This three-step process is used to ensure the highest purity air flow is achieved.
